Animal Collective- "Bluish"

Animal Collective

Merriweather Post Pavillion

Domino; 2009

"Bluish" comes off of Animal Collective's acclaimed Merriweather Post PavillionWhile the album thematically relates to Lennox's apprehension to fatherhood, "Bluish" is track about love making. To find the specifics, you can just search the lyrics. It's pretty obvious. Musically, "Bluish" is similar to many of the tracks on the album. It features many liquid textures, scattering audible ripples, and wild harmonies. The song differs from the rest of the tracks in that it is not as animal  as the others. While there are a few bird cries and jungle noises, the elements that define this album are not extremely present on this track. Here the vocals are calmer, the ambiance less cluttered, and the feeling intimate. Animal Collective style so definitive that their tracks are impossible to confuse. "Bluish" maintains their trademark sound, but slows it down to something the non-Animal Collective fans can handle.
